FAQ

Most Frequently Asked Questions

Will the cleaning shrink my carpet?

The chance of shrinkage is minimal, unless there are open seams. Our operators are trained to use the utmost care when cleaning your carpet.

Can I walk on my carpet after it has been cleaned?

We recommend that you keep traffic off the carpet for at least 2 hours. If you must walk on the carpet wear rubber soled shoes or socks. Walking on freshly cleaned carpet with bare feet may leave oil spots.

How long will it take my carpet to dry?

Normal drying time is from 6 to 24 hours. It depends on humidity, air movement, and the temperature in the room. Do not be alarmed if it takes longer especially when Teflon or Scotchgard is applied.

How long will it take my furniture to dry?

Usually anywhere from 6 to 8 hours. It is recommended to let it dry overnight before using.

Will all the spot come out?

We will treat all of the spotted areas with the most professional methods known. However, we cannot guarantee there removal. Many agents affect carpet dyes and spot set in if not blotted up immediately.

How long will Teflon or 3M Scotchgard last?

Teflon or Scotchgard is an important protection for keeping carpets clean. It will wear off as the carpet wears and will eventually need reapplied. Areas of your carpet that have heavy traffic may need an application every time your carpets are cleaned. Other areas may need it every other time.

How often should I have my carpet or furniture cleaned?

Major carpet manufacturers recommend every 6 to 18 months depending on the amount of traffic in the house. Rooms that you used most often, such as family rooms and dining rooms probably should be cleaned every 6 months. Rooms used less frequently may be cleaned every 12 to 18 months. You are the best judge. When you start seeing soil you should have it cleaned.

Should a person with asthma have a carpet in their home?

Research has show that having a clean carpet at home will actually benefit people with asthma as the dust and allergen are accumulated in the carpet fibers, so the dust does not float freely in the room air. It is important to note that the carpet must be kept clean (vacuum + steam cleaning on a regular basis) and that the person with the asthma should not be around when the carpet is cleaned. It is recommended that you use a high quality vacuum with a HEPA filter ("high efficiency particulate air"), to assure all dust and dirt is sucked out of the carpet and air. However, please consult your family doctor as he will know your specific health needs.

What is carpet steam cleaning?

Steam cleaning is the recommended cleaning method by the industry leaders (Shaw industries, and the I.I.C.R.C). High pressure steam is sprayed on the carpet fibers and then it is sucked up by a special water vacuum. This method assures a deep effective clean. Although you can rent steam cleaner machines for DIY, this is not recommended, as a professional cleaning company will have a truck mounted steam cleaner more powerful and effective than any rental machine.

Can you remove pet odor from my carpet?

Yes. In cases that the contamination is limited only the face yarn of the carpet then the cleaning itself may effectively remove the odor. In more severe cases a urine neutralizer may be applied. In the most severe cases, replacement of the carpet padding, treatment of the under-side of the carpet and the sub-floor may be required.

How long does the carpet cleaning process take?

The exact answer depends on carpet type, soil amount and type of cleaning. In general it can be said that we are able to clean approximately 400 square feet per hour. But each case is slightly different. The specifics are important to answer this accurately.

Do you move furniture?

Yes. We do this with no extra charge (unlike most companies that charge extra). For liability reasons, we do not move antique furniture, entertainment systems, pianos, or other valuable belongings.

I've heard it's best to put off having your carpet cleaned as long as possible, is this true?

No. In fact, many of the major carpet manufacturers recommend a professional cleaning at least once every 6-8 months. The buildup of dirt and soil in your carpet fibers, in combination with foot traffic, creates an abrasion that breaks down your carpet's fibers. The higher the traffic in a given area, the more often the carpet will need cleaning.

My carpet has slight discoloration, can you correct that?

Yes. In most cases of color loss in a carpet, it may be able to be spot dyed, and fixed. In more serious discoloration situations we can repair the carpet by replacing the area of discolored carpet with another piece from our stock.

What is the best way to keep your carpet (rug or upholstery) clean soft and smelling great?

Regular care and maintenance is the best way to prolong the life of carpets and rugs. Any new rug or carpet will be bought with a manufacturers maintenance guide for daily care. Following a well planed care program will promise your carpet will maintain its soft feel and clean look for many years.
